Brown Pelican
    Description: About 45 inches long, the adult is gray brown except for a white head and neck. During breeding, the nape, or back of the neck is brown. The female lays 2 - 4 white eggs which hatch in about a month. the young leave the nest in 71 - 88 days..

    Habitat: Brown pelicans live along the coast of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Their nest may be on the ground with an outer rim of soil and plant material or high in a mangrove tree made of sticks and grasses.

    Foods: It eats fish, diving into the water from the air and catching them in their pouch.

    Did you know?: Brown pelicans might be extinct except for Theodore Roosevelt who sat set aside a refuge area for them off the coast of Florida.
