Maiasaura
(mah-ee-ah-SAWR-ah)

Lived during: Late Cretaceous
Found: Montana
Name Means: Good mother lizard
It was once though that dinosaurs like most reptiles, abandoned thier eggs after laying them.  In 1978, though, Maiasaura nestss were found containing not only eggs byt fossils of babies of various sizes.  This suggesterd that the mothers very possibly took care of their young.  The plant eating Maiasaura had long face, a short bill, and a horn like crest on its forehead.
Lived at the same time as: Ankylosaurus, Gallimimus, Parasaurolophus, Protoceratops, Pteranondon, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptor
