Ornitholestes
(or-nith-o-LESS-teez)
Length: 6 feet
Lived during: Late Jurassic
Found: Western North AMerica
Name Means: Bird Robber
Bird robber got its name because scientists used to think it was able to catch and eat birds.  more likely, though, this small headed, long tailed meat eater lived on lizards, mammals,  and other small animals that lived during the late Jurassic period.  Ornitholestes was very light, had long, slim legs, and was probably an extremely fast runner.
Lived at the same time as: Allosaurus, Apatosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Camptosaurus, Diplodocus, Stegosaurus
